Tell Us About The Drive/Parking/City/Highway: It was one of those moments. Often driving down the expressway here in Japan I would see one of the angular looking medium-sized Mercedes Benz 4X4 going somewhere. I had often thought how good they looked and made it a point to buy one at the earliest opportunity possible as we needed a larger car for family outings etc

One day I noted a white 2014 Mercedes Benz GLK 350 AMG style at the auction and decided to have a shot at it. I was quite surprised at how little the car cost actually and how much depreciation the car had already suffered to get to the point of being around $20,000 wholesale. Great Value in my humble opinion.

The car turned up on a transporter as they always do and to my utter disbelief, there were very few technical issues that required immediate attention. Yes, it required new tires and a clean but that was due to 58,000 Klm and nothing to do with the car.

I already new the exteriors cool angular somewhat rugged want to be G class looks so there were no surprises there. They do call this the AMG styled car and I do have to wonder how much AMG was really in the car except some letters in the alloy wheels saying AMG and some chrome. A nice bit of branding.

Open the door (any door) and you will find a moderately cramped interior with half Alcantara or something loosely resembling it and pleather seats. The leather was stained in places and wearing prematurely. I have looked at others since and it's a common trend. The dashboard and controls are well laid out in typical Mercedes Benz style and everything looked perfect. Getting in the car was easy with plenty of headroom for the occupants but legroom for those in the rear was poor. This car had 4-way adjustable front seats which were and still are good for next to nothing at all.

Time for that city drive and we head out. The first thing you really notice is how much power this car has from zero to go. Its no slouch and getting about is simple. The brakes are great and steering pinpoint. It is a bit willowy and will blow and roll around a bit around corners etc. Parking is a breeze as it's not large and sitting high gives you quite a commanding view. We really enjoyed the around town aspect of the car.

On the open road you start to go faster than normal as this large 3,500cc V6 engine that's mated to a very capable 6-speed transmission really comes alive. It wants to overtake everything and has the balls to do so with ease. It will keep up with the best of cars and the safety items will help you do that. I loved driving it everywhere.

Reasons To Buy Or Not To Buy: Oozing with "I am German" and safety equipment this Mercedes Benz GLK 350 is a great combination of Luxury, Performance, and Safety. And furthermore, they are very affordable for what you get out of a German car.

Make Your First German Car a Mercedes Benz GLK 350

If I had thought more about it I should not have sold this car but times move along and so do cars. My GLK never stepped out of place once and dis everything and more that we asked from it. I drove it hard and fast and it treated me well. A great car.

Made tough

Ugly and pretty at the same time

Safe for all

Interior seats are cheap

AMG where?

Small cabin

Small trunk

Not pretty
