Tell Us About The Drive/Parking/City/Highway: The Toyota Vitz or Yaris as it's known in the USA and a few other countries have been described as slow and somewhat boring. The car is what it is. It's a small commuter designed to get people around town or distances effectively with safety and relative comfort whilst being economical. It does this well.
Climbing into the car, you at first feel a sense of size, not small but roomy. The designers at Toyota and other Japanese manufacturers are making great use of space. This Vitz is no exception. The only time that you really notice at first that you are in a somewhat smaller vehicle is when a passenger sits beside you.
Heading out you notice that there are plenty of safety features and all controls and idiot dials are in the perfect location for you. Immediately you feel as you have driven this car before, and you probably have if you have owned other Japanese cars before this as they all have similarities. You quickly forget just how well laid out everything is for you. Big displays and seriously intuitive controls not to mention a multi-function steering wheel.
As the car shifts up through the gears you notice that no it's not fast and it has never been touted to go fast. I had no expectations of shirt ripping neck jarring speed. It is what it is, a small engined 106 Horsepower Japanese Economical car. It's quiet allowing you to listen to your music or talk back at a low volume whilst darting nimbly in and out of traffic to your destination.
parking this car is a breeze as the Japanese Domestic Model (JDM) has a reverse camera that allows you to line up the car easily into the smallest of spaces. The doors open wide and ground clearance is great which allows you and passengers to get in and out easily.
Now we are out on the open road! The Toyota Vitz holds its own at 120 KLM an hour. When overtaking please don't expect to overtake any car in the blink of an eye as that's not going to happen. Give yourself ample space and the car will overtake with moderate ease without you feeling like you are annoying other drivers by staying out in the fast lane for too long.
The Vitz drives well on these unforgiving Japanese roads and soaking up the bumps is achieved easily by the suspension setup. It is all very adequate for the price you have paid for a volume-produced inexpensive 3 or 5 door hatchback.
I drove this car for a complete day and hardly saw the fuel gauge move having traveled some 150 Klm that day. A good result. My Daihatsu Wake will have dropped 1/4 of a tank by that amount of distance traveled. Running on regular gasoline absolutely helps maintain a great per Kilometer fuel consumption ratio.
Reasons To Buy Or Not To Buy: There is a multitude of reasons why the average punter should buy a Toyota Vitz or Yaris. Its spacious, safe, economical and great value for money given the features and safety equipment that rolls out with it.
With many cars available for export the Toyota Vitz is in pole position firmly sitting as the most popular car to import from Japan. This alone is the premium reason to buy a Toyota Vitz

Is The Toyota Vitz That good?
If you need a good reliable first or second-hand car for any reason and the wallet can afford a Toyota Vitz then don’t pick another car. It will slip into the driveway nicely and Mr & Mrs. Green the economically efficient couple living next door will now think that you are conforming or have finally been listening to speeches from Greta Thunberg.
